Now that summer is here, we'll be sharing some great tips for caring for your jewelry during the sunny season!

Summer jewelry tip #3: Remove your jewelry before applying sunblock or bug spray. Substances like lotion can get stuck into the crevices of chains or prongs and can be hard to remove later. These products also leave a film on your jewelry, making it appear dull and dingy. This also applies year-around to perfumes and lotions!

On the left is the "Crimson Flame," a 15 carat Burmese ruby that sold for $18 million in December 2015, surpassing its high estimate of $15 million, and setting the world-record for price-per-carat for a ruby.

On the right is another stunning gemstone, “Sunrise Ruby,” a 25.59 carat Cartier ruby. It sold at auction in May 2016 for $30 million, FAR exceeding its high estimate of $18 million, and setting the record for a Cartier jewel at auction. Wow!

"It was fate."

Chet Kulus was serving in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II, and his ship was supposed to dock in New York City. The harbor was too full, however, so it was diverted to Boston. On his second day on a liberty pass in Boston, he met Fay, who was studying at Burdette College following the war. This seemingly chance diversion to Boston would lead to six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, with a third great-great-grandchild expected to arrive in December!

Recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, Chester and Fay Kulus, to this day, believe that it was fate that brought them together all those years ago. This is the kind of story that reminds us all how wonderful and mysterious life can be!

Photoshop, right?!

While it may look Photoshopped at first glance, it's the real deal! Adam Sunderhaus is holding up Ashley Vennetti with one hand as she flashes her ring. This amazing engagement photo from two former University of Kentucky cheerleaders features a real cheerleading move. The move, called a “cupie” in the cheerleading community, “is kind of our cool signature way to take a picture,” Sunderhaus said. The two have done the same pose in front of Wrigley Field, at Disney World and in Mexico.

Wow! This is definitely one of the coolest engagement photos we've seen yet! What do you think? Read more here: http://bit.ly/29ru0zM

Octogenarian couple finish marathon, hand in hand, to celebrate anniversary!

At 80 years old, Kay and Joe O'Regan have never been more in love — or in better shape. Their feelings for each other were apparent as ever when crossing the finish line, hand in hand, at the Cork City Marathon in Ireland on June 6. This wasn't the first time the couple showed affection during a race. Their hands were intertwined when they completed the London Marathon in 1986 (right picture).

Since then, Kay has gone on to compete in 113 marathons, and Joe in 29. While they prefer to take part in separate races, the pair decided that running together in the Cork City Marathon would be the perfect way to celebrate their 80th birthdays, as well as their 57th wedding anniversary.

Summer jewelry tip #2: Before diving into a pool, relaxing in a hot tub, or swimming in the ocean, consider the potential effects on your jewelry! Who loves stories that have a happy ending? We do!

After Anna Cornish's 4 year-old son, Landon, flushed her diamond wedding ring down the toilet, she thought it was lost forever. But her husband, Ryan, on a hunch told the story to some city workers near his house and asked if there was any chance the ring might turn up. A day later, about a mile from the Cornish home, and against all odds, workers found it among sewage and debris!

After taking the ring to his local jeweler to be cleaned, Ryan brought the wedding ring home to surprise his wife. When Ryan came home, he woke Landon up from a nap, showed him the ring and told him to give it to his mom. Landon presented it with a big, wide-eyed, “I’m sorry.”

It’s a moment that Anna could only describe as touching. “I was shocked and speechless, and I looked over at my husband and I was like, ‘Did you get a new one?’ and he said, ‘No, they found it,’ ” said Anna, 34. “I just felt speechless, tears started coming down my eyes, tears started coming down my mom’s eyes.”
