Here are three great tips for caring for your jewelry during the summer season! Summer jewelry tip #1: De-bling before gardening! Dirt and small rocks are abrasive to jewelry. Gardening gloves can be dangerous, too. Prongs and gemstones can catch on them and rings can slip off when you take off gloves. To be safe, always remove your jewelry before gardening. Summer jewelry tip #2: Never wear rings in cold water! The cold temperature in pools, oceans, lakes and rivers causes your finger size to shrink temporarily. When this happens, rings can easily slip off fingers without you being aware of it - until it's too late! Summer jewelry tip #3: Remove your jewelry before applying sunblock or bug spray. Substances like lotion can get stuck into the crevices of chains or prongs and can be hard to remove later. These products also leave a film on your jewelry, making it appear dull and dingy. This also applies year-around to perfumes and lotions!
